Rose Ciresi, an Italian American residing in St. Paul, Minn., was active in many organizations, and particularly in local activities connected with the Catholic Church. She was instrumental in making Columbus Day a state holiday in Minnesota, and was active in the Columbus Memorial Association of St. Paul, Inc. Founded in 1929 as the St. Paul Chapter of the Columbus Memorial Association, the organization became incorporated in 1945 as the Columbus Memorial Association of St. Paul (Minn.).
